VSphere ESX 4.0 on a USB flash drive

I trussed This article describes a procedure that allows Dunca Eppingla have USB on vSphere

Starting from a Windows PC all:

  • Download the VMware Player
  • Download ESXi
  • Install VMware Player (next / previous / finish)
  • Create a new VM and connecting to the ESXi iso
  • attach the USB to PC.
  • Booting from CD with the iso ESXi
  • connect the usb to the VM and select "mass storage device"
  • Select the USB key when "Select a Disk"
  • Next, Next, Finish

At this point a generic installation of ESXi on USB 4.0 will be residing.
