To reset the trial license for Terminal Server Microsoft Windows Server (2000 and 2003) as follows:

• Disconnect all of the client terminal
• On the server shut down the Terminal Server Licensing
• Move the contents of the folder% WINDIR% \ system32 \ LServer in a temporary folder (used only as a backup)
• The folder will be empty LServer
• Restart the Terminal Server Licensing service
• For each client to clear the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ MSLicensing

To reconnect to the server to each new client will be granted a new temporary license for 90 days (120 for Windows Server 2008). Warning: The procedure described is not a CRACK but a procedure described by Microsoft itself, to use a case of licensing issues such as corruption of the database.

Technical Information

LServer folder contains the following files:

• Edb.log - Register of transactions on the database of licenses
• edb.chk - Control file used to report the use of the database during the transitions
• Res1.log - Wires registry backup, in case you run out of disk space. Limited to 5MB
• Res2.log - Same order of the previous file
• TLSLic.edb - The current license database
• temp.edb - Used to store information about transactions in progress

Possible problems:

• Error code 31 to restart the service: it has created a new folder instead of draining the existing one, check the folder autorizzazioneidella lserver

FOR WINDOWS 2008

SERVER

• Stop the license server in Terminal Services applet (services.msc)
• Go to the% SystemRoot% \ windows \ system32 \ lserver3. Back up files and is Edb.chk TLSLic.edb if something goes wrong (Microsoft has a database of licensing information in these files)
• Edb.chk Delete both files and directories from TLSLic.edb
• Run Registry Editor
• Go to the following key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ Software \ Microsoft \ MSLicensing \"
• Note there is a subkey named "Parameters"
• Delete subkey

CLIENT

• Vai to the client to which the evaluation period has expired
• Run Registry Editor
• Go to the following key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ Software \ Microsoft \ MSLicensing \"
• Note: There are two subkeys named "Store" and "HardwareID"
• Delete both subkeys
• DO NOT connect the terminal server with the client

SERVER

• Change the date on the server to say, year 2014 (this is used to change the due date so that there is no need to repeat steps every 90 days)
• Start the licensing service terminal

CLIENT

• Connect the client to the server
• Is recreated in the new key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ Software \ Microsoft \ MSLicensing \". This new key holds new expiration date 2014
• Repeat for all clients and do not touch the data on the server until the end of operations.

SERVER

• Vai terminal server licensing in Administrative Tools
• Note that the temporary license expires in years 2014 hours. Date of issue is 2014, but the information is not important for clients to work. The server only stores the expiration date on the client.
• Reset the date today
